The 2020 Aston Martin Vantage: The Archetypal Hunter

Making a big statement on the road in 2020 is the Aston Martin Vantage. With a look that is unique and customizable, it is sure to turn heads wherever you take it. The design, engineering and performance allow you to take this car from the track, to country roads, or the busy city.

Design

Each piece of the 2020 Vantage has been tailored to give the car an athletic aesthetic, but at the same time also giving it an aggressive appearance to make others on the road stop and admire. Inside the car, the seats sit lower for a more thrilling experience while you drive.

Engineering

To create a car that handles many kinds of roads, Aston Martin incorporated an aluminum chassis in the body of the Vantage. Under the hood is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 that gives you 503 horsepower right out of the gate. The Vantage is sure to get you from point A to point B – quickly and in style.

Ultra-Compact Hood

The convertible roof of the Vantage is powered by a Z-fold mechanism and can be lowered at 6.7 seconds or raised at 6.8 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. This is almost twice as fast as the models that came before!

Saying Goodbye to the Aston Martin DB9

After 13 of years of production the Aston Martin DB9 has come to an end. Originally tasked with replacing the Aston Martin DB7, the DB9 launched at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, where the design created by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker stunned everyone!

To celebrate the car that kept the company afloat when Ford sold the British marque in 2006, the ‘Q by Aston Martin’ division has added some ‘last of 9’ detailing on the final nine DB9s that came off the line.

In its first iteration, the DB9 was capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 299km/h.  The platform of the DB9’s VH soon formed the basis of the DBS, Virage, Rapide, V8 Vantage and V12 Vantage, and the Vanquish over the next 10 years.

Since its first iteration in 2003, the DB9 was provided with a number of significant updates.  One of the most significant ones occurred in 2013 when it included a revised version of the 5.9-litre V12 thus bumping outputs to a heftier 380kW of power and 620Nm of torque. Coupled with an updated ‘Touchtronic 2’ 6-speed automatic tranny, the 2013 DB9 could spring from 0-100km/h in only 4.6 seconds.

Aston Martin created 150 special edition DB9s in 2015 to celebrate their relationship with the James Bond franchise.  They boosted the V12 by 22 kW (30 hp), there’s gun barrel embroidery, a numbered sill plate, and a special startup on the touchscreen infotainment system so the driver could feel more like 007.

Aston Martin Vulcan Can Be Made Street Legal

Source: Digital Trends

The Aston Martin Vulcan is a car that will set you back over 2 million dollars. The problem, however, is that it wasn’t looking like it was going to be street legal. Why dish out that kind of cash if you’re not able to take your fancy new ride onto the streets?

Luckily, Aston Martin plans on putting a program into place that will let you transform your Vulcan to be able to take it out on the road. Out of the factory, the Vulcan is barely raised off the asphalt. As you could imagine, this would be disastrous on any street that isn’t perfectly flat. You hit one bump and your ride is severely damaged.

It’s reported that Aston Martin is working with an outside company to make the conversions to street legal use.  The conversions are said to take three months to complete.

Aston Martin Unveils New DB11

Aston Martin unveiled their next vehicle, the DB11, at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. After the unveiling of the DB10 last year, which was made exclusively for the James Bond film “Spectre,” Aston Martin fans were excited to see a car which they could take to the streets.

The DB11 will feature the first turbocharged engine in the DB line, with a 5.2 liter v12 engine. It is said to achieve 600 horsepower and be able to burst from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds.

Aesthetically speaking, the DB11 is a truly beautiful looking vehicle. It’s sleek and sport design is a joy to look at. The light and agile vehicle has earned the label of “most efficient and dynamically gifted” DB model ever, so fans of the brand sure have a lot to look forward to.

Aston Martin has priced the vehicle at $212,000 and is said to have received over one thousand advanced orders from customers who were able to get an early look at the vehicle. As one of the only truly independent luxury car makers left, Aston Martin has high hopes for this car to become a success.

Sneak Peek: Aston Martin DB11

Details are beginning to emerge of one of this Autumn/Winter 2016’s most anticipated “pieces” – the all-new Aston Martin DB11. Scheduled to steal the show in Geneva in the first week of March, the DB11 is the most significant design yet from Aston’s head of studio, Marek Reichman.

Much like how the previous DB9 ushered in a new generation of cars from Aston’s Gaydon, UK, headquarters, the British carmaker says the DB11 will kick off its “Second Century Plan.” An insider told us that Aston is in the final tuning stages, and as such, the engineering prototype pictured here is likely the closest thing we’ve seen to a final production-spec car. While early mules had moldings and panels, we now have a good sense of the DB11’s proportions, and can clearly see the rear-wheel-drive coupe’s character lines. We can also see an aero-lip intake under the grille that appears to be significantly wider than on the DB9. Beyond being aesthetically pleasing, this is a necessary addition for better cooling.

Aston Martin unveiled the DB11s new engine recently, a twin-turbo 5.2-litre V12 based on the old cars normally aspirated six-litre V12 and good, one imagines for at least 600bhp (given the opposition). That will also allow Aston to turn up the boost on future Vanquish models to 700bhp. It’s hard to imagine Aston Martin won’t take the opportunity to update the transmission to the very latest eight-speed ZF. There will be other versions of the DB11 — a turbocharged 4.0-litre developed from the V8 in AMG’s GT — but not immediately.

Only 10 units were produced for the film, hand-built by Aston Martin’s team of designers, engineers, and craftsmen. The DB10 up for auction is one of two that was not modified for the film.  Christie’s claims it’s the only DB10 that’s been released for sale to the public and that it includes a plaque signed by Daniel Craig himself.

All proceeds from the DB10 sale will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

Aston Martin Vulcan: A Car for the Gods

Aston Martin debuted the track-only Vulcan recently. Among other things, the Vulcan sported an enormous rear wing that extends beyond the width of the hypercar’s bodywork, a unique cockpit design, an exterior design that breathes new life into the brand, and a few traditional Aston Martin touches.

The Aston Martin Vulcan hits the track in the latest video from the automaker, which spotlights different design elements that make this hypercar unique. That rear wing is hard to miss, but it’s all but forgotten as soon as the driver revs the engine. That engine is a 7.0-liter V-12 that makes upwards of 800 hp.

With a price at $2 million-plus, the Vulcan joins the ranks of other ultra-expensive, track-only cars such as the McLaren P1 GTR, Ferrari FXX and FXX K, Pagani Zonda R, and the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento. This is just the first step in Aston’s plan to expand its lineup to better compete with the likes of Ferrari and other top competitors, and with this track-focused, 225-mph hypercar, the automaker is well on its way.

The Aston Martin DB11 Rumors

2017 Aston Martin DB9 Successor picture - doc636791

Source: Top Speed

It has been rumored that the 2017 Aston Martin DB9 successor will arrive in late 2016 with a turbocharged, 4.0-liter V-8 developed by AMG.  Some are now suggesting that the grand tourer will borrow more from Mercedes-Benz. According to one source. the DB11 (name not yet official) will feature 2014 Mercedes S-Class -sourced instrument dials, a rotary controller for the infotainment system, as well as switches for the air conditioning system.

Some believe the pictures of the interior are proof that Aston Martin is getting plenty of electronics from its new partner in Stuttgart.  Until further details surface one way or another, all we know is the DB9’s successor will get both V-8 and V-12 powerplants, with some rumors claiming Gaydon will turbocharge the V-12 as well in order to reduce the brand’s carbon footprint. As previously mentioned, the DB11 will also ride on a new platform and feature new styling, likely based on that of the 2015 Aston Martin DB10 movie car built for the upcoming James Bond “Spectre” film.
