Meet the Porsche 911 Targa 4S

Porsche 911 Targa 4S

The Porsche 911 Targa 4S is a stiff car with a well set up chassis. When you take a moderate entry speed into a corner the 911 Targa turns in with fluid precision.  It delivers towering grip levels yet it still offers a bit of progressive playfulness and mobility to the handling.  The steering is not as responsive as some might hope, but the 911 Targa is well weighted and it gives you a good feeling for how much grip you’ve got left.

There’s a real sense of gusto from low revs and that gusto carries on through a broader rev range.  The PDK gearbox remains one of the best out there.  It delivers rapid-fire shifts only when you want or need them.  This keeps things relaxed and smooth when driving in normal use.

The front is redesigned with four-spot day running lights, and the 911 Targa has a tweaked front spoiler and a sharper bonnet design. The rear has a new, heartier, look with amazing 3-dimensional tail-lights.  It also has a rear air intake which now has vertical, not horizontal, air vents.

When the roof is up the Targa 4S has the outline of a 911 coupe.  When you put the roof down it looks incredible, confident, stylish and distinctive.  The Targa truly stands alone in open-top motoring.

Next Gen Porsche 911 to Feature a Manual, Six-speed Transmission

No manual transmission option on the current Porsche 911 GT3 had many Porsche purists displeased.  However, as announced at the Geneva Motor Show, the newest edition of the 911 GT3 was seen with a manual transmission, much to the liking of old-school Porsche fanatics.

It is speculated that this new model will be available in both manual and PDK automatic transmission. Aside from the unveiling at the motor show, Andreas Preuninger of Porsche recently confirmed that a six-speed manual transmission will be available in next generation 911 GT3’s. However, the track-focused GT3 RS will remain PDK only, with no option for manual transmission.

Porsche will be making 991 units of the 911 GT3’s available for purchase, with a starting price of $184,900.

2016 Maserati Alfieri

The Maserati concept car Alfieri is about to make the jump to showroom. Harald Wester, the CEO of Meser, said the Coupe will be virtually unchanged when it is launched in 2016. The 2016 release will be followed up by the release of a soft-topped convertible in 2017; the cars are a tribute to Alfieri Maserati, who began making sports cars 100 years ago.

The Alfieri was designed to rival the current stars like the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type. It will be offered as a 2+2 coupe, with identical rear wheel drive architecture as the Ghibli, or as 4 wheel drive. A turbocharged V8 engine boasts around 404bhp in the base model, and Wester says Maserati is working on a new hybrid plug-in system for range. An auxiliary 48V electrical system and plug-in are in the works; this will add a boost of speed, as well as enough power to feed the AC and suspension.
